Why NABUHA Exists
They called it team culture.
It was assimilation.
For years I held corporate and management roles that asked me to tone myself down: my personality, my clothes, my accessories, the parts of my culture I carry on my body. Individuality wasn't valued there, and I felt that every day I walked in.
I had been making garments for the stage and for costume work. Once I had a real foundation in construction and concept development, I started taking that work off the stage and into real life: fashion shows, special-occasion commissions, and what I wear every day. The more I showed up as myself, the more people saw something of themselves in it. Most of the connections I've made came from exactly that.
That's what NABUHA is. We make new work, garments, fragrance, and art rooted in culture, and we build a world around it that you can step into and help shape.

Our Mission
Facilitate systems, spaces, and tools that help people turn identity into recognition.
That's the whole thing. Not revenue targets. Not market share. People, and the systems that help them be fully themselves.
We build through product, education, and community. Each reinforces the other. The fragrance is a story. The garment is a statement. The workshop is a practice. The people who show up for each other are the proof that it's all working.

Everything we do starts with the belief that who you are (your heritage, your story, your culture) is not a liability. It's your greatest asset.
Community is the product.
The fragrances, garments, and workshops are real. But what we're really building is a network of people who show up for each other. Multi-generational. Bay Area-rooted. Open to anyone.
Craft is non-negotiable.
We don't cut corners on quality: in what we make, what we teach, or how we show up for our community. NABUHA exists at the intersection of excellence and accessibility.
